PG Bison customers at Decorex
It’s always exciting to see how our products are inspiring beautiful spaces and this year’s Johannesburg leg of Decorex held in early August was an opportunity to do just that.
There were several PG Bison customers exhibiting, including Shumba Innovations and Projects, Island Board, ROBOD Signature Furniture, Signature Room, Offix Office Furniture, Fineline Doors, Pascal Interior Design and Carpentry Services and Jennifer Jones Interiors. The PG Bison team enjoyed engaging with them and seeing their show stands, featuring the latest kitchen, bathroom, living area and office trends.
William Shumba, Founder and Director of Shumba Innovations and Projects, which exhibited at Decorex for the first time in 2023, says the company is happy with the collaboration it enjoys with PG Bison. “We love their products – they are always new and current, which helps us to sell our interior carpentry designs. Our show kitchen was inspired by the ‘innovation’ part of our name. We always like going the extra mile and not just giving people a traditional kitchen that they expect, but to show them something different that will inspire them. We want to show something modern and contemporary.”
William says the design started with creating a mood board. The colours that were selected include Kalapana SupaGloss paired with Muidan and Tunari SupaMatt. “We’ve had so many people stopping just to admire the colour combination,” he says. “I’ve tried a whole lot of products on the market, but I decided to stick with PG Bison because the quality is good and the service is also amazing.” Read more about the company in our previous profile.
Picking PG Bison
“We launched in 2014 and this year was the first time we participated in Decorex,” says Signature Room CEO, Lindiwe Mabizela. “Our stand was all PG Bison boards. We have been using PG Bison since we started our business operations. I love how my stand stood out through a simple design with PG Bison products. I work with PG Bison products because they are versatile, always available and of a high standard with a variety of choices allowing for creativity.”
“PG Bison is not just the company that manufactures the board we use, but a partner that understands our business and has helped us grow to where we envisioned,” says Dharmesh Bhaga, Co-owner at ROBOD Signature Furniture. “We have a longstanding relationship with PG Bison and relate well with the team, from the sales representatives all the way up to the CEO. What makes it great to work with PG Bison is the quality of the boards, the consistency of the product, and the innovation in design and colours. PG Bison is always willing to help in everything that we require.”
“The 2023 edition of Decorex was the second time we participated in Decorex,” says Gavin White, Sales & Marketing Manager at Offix Office Furniture. “We have been using PG Bison products for over 20 years through various suppliers that stock their products. The selection range and quality of the boards makes working with PG Bison so effortless.”
Paul Frederickson of Fineline Doors says the company has been in business for 39 years and has worked with PG Bison products from inception. “PG Bison is very active in promoting its products and ensuring its customers always have the latest of what they have to offer,” he says. “We have a great relationship.”
Jennifer Jones a leading interior decorator and designer says, “Shows are always a great vehicle for people to see new products in application and the use of the Formica Lifeseal Worktops as an alternative to heavy stone on our mobile bar unit was a perfect example of this. The fact that we were also able to cut Formica Lifeseal Worktop into a shape was of interest to many visitors.”
Making the most of new Gallery 4 colours
Belson Sithole of Island Board says the company tried to use as many of the new colours from the PG Bison Gallery 4 Expressions range as possible to show visitors who attended the Decorex exhibition what’s possible. Their stand included various installations, including a show kitchen, complete with a coffee station area, as well as a TV stand unit.
“We wanted to do something that no one has seen yet,” says Belson. “We mixed gloss and matt, light and dark, and added LED lighting, and we’ve also shown the Formica Lifeseal Worktops, with a homey, woody feel, which brings nature into the home.”
Colours used include Nosara, Tunari and Banbridge, among others. Belson says he loves using different wood grains together, pairing complementary textures and colours to create visual interest. Read more about this family-built business here.
It was wonderful to see all the different show stands, and we hope they will inspire you to create beautiful spaces of your own.
