Creating beautiful and inspiring learning spaces

During this year’s Mandela Day initiative PG Bison ‘paid it forward’ at Eersterivier Secondary School in Cape Town by partnering with like-minded organisations to refurbish and paint the kitchen, eating hall and renovate the lavatories. We worked with Libra Joiners and Interiors, R and L Architects, Women’s Property Network, Luxil, Cobra, Hadjidakis Foundation, Sangengalo Marble and Stone, National Edging, Dulux, De Leeuw Group, Peninsula Beverages, Franke, Horizon Capital, Stiles, Top Inc, Whiteheads, Evo Property, Gutsche Investment & Management Company and All Office to renovate the school facilities.

The school and the community are situated on the eastern part of the city of Cape Town,

PG Bison donated beautiful products from the Gallery 4 and Gallery 3 product range. Formica LifeSeal Worktop in Malbacco and Caraz Peen Melawood were used for the kitchen cabinets and Stonetown Linear, Melawood for the eating hall area, intended to bring tranquillity, calmness, and focus, ultimately creating a learning environment that is conducive to creative thinking, over lunch meals. The kitchen and feeding hall feeds 180 to 200 learners daily which for some learners is the only meal for the day.

The renovation donations included kitchen units, stone tops, sinks, taps, plumbing fittings, paint, paint brushes and rollers. Without the contributions from our partners, sponsors and volunteers, this incredible work could not have been achieved. As a cohesive team, we took the opportunity to contribute to the school's development by giving it a much-needed makeover. The feeding hall area underwent a transformation, and a state-of-the-art kitchen was provided. Lunch and refreshments for the 1 250 learners were provided, as well as care packs, a 15-litre hydro boiler, cash donations and helping hands to make the project come to fruition.

Reinet Daniels, Feeding Scheme Co-ordinator, said, “PG Bison and all the companies that took their time to come and work with us were absolute amazing to watch. All partners, sponsors and volunteers worked hard to ensure that the children have a beautiful and comfortable learning environment, and it was clear that it was all done out of love. Thank you to everyone involved for bringing joy to Eersterivier community.”

As Nelson Mandela once said, “It is in your hands, to make a better world for all who live in it”.
