New BisonBord line on track for May 2017

The installation of PG Bison’s new state-of-the art particleboard line is well on track and is scheduled to produce its first board in May 2017.

The first phase at a cost of R 600 million, includes the installation of a new generation German built Siempelkamp continuous press and forming line. In addition a new board handling system, upgrades to the sander and the installation of a new Vyncke energy plant will also be commissioned. This new press will replace the current press and increase the capacity immediately to 680 m3 per day.

In addition to a new particleboard line, PG Bison is also installing a new melamine press in Piet Retief. This new press, which will be commissioned in February 2017, will have the capacity to produce deep embossed finishes. Watch this space for exciting new products and finishes.

“The new particleboard line will not only give us additional capacity, and also significantly improve the quality of the board,” says Brand Engelbrecht, PG Bison’s Manufacturing Executive.

“Plans are already well advanced to complete the 2nd phase which will further increase the plant’s capacity to 1 000 m3 per day,” says Engelbrecht.

In 2017, PG Bison will celebrate 50 years of board manufacturing in South Africa.
