Long Service Awards: Abel Nhleko

Abel Nhleko started working for PG Bison in 1982 as a Knife Grinder Assistant. He describes himself as a happy, loving person who is family oriented. He’s a newspaper reader and a soccer fan. For many years Abel was a striker for the Bison Board Easy Walkers soccer team.
What is your position at PG Bison, and what do you enjoy most about it?
I’m a Knife Grinder, I sharpen the blades which cut logs into chips, and I enjoy my role because it plays a significant role in the manufacturing process.
What makes you proud to work for PG Bison?
My first employer is PG Bison, and I feel honored with the opportunity they offered to me despite my lack of experience. So, I’m proud to say that I did my longest run with PG Bison.
How has your experience with the company been?
My experience with the company has benefited me a lot because I’ve seen growth and my relationship with my superiors and colleagues has been extremely great.
What is one thing you wish more people knew about you?
I wish people knew that I am a very good observer and how patient I am.
What are your future goals?
I started my career with PG Bison and 40 years later, I’m still here. I’ve fulfilled my career goals and now I’m close to retirement. My goals are to make a better living even after my retirement and to spend more time with my family.
What are your greatest achievements during your time at PG Bison?
The company has played a huge role in my life. I’ve learned how to drive a forklift and a tractor, and I’ve been promoted from one position to another. Through PG Bison, I was able to feed and educate my children.
