Long Service Awards: Bhekinkosi Biyela

PG Bison honours the journey of long-serving employees for being part of the change by committing to building the company’s future. We take this opportunity to profile employees with the remarkable milestone of over 40 years of service by telling their stories and highlighting their progress within the company.

Bhekinkosi Biyela began working his first job in 1982 at PG Bison. He was a Frontend Loader Operator in the log yard and was then promoted to Chipper Operator in 2011. He loves soccer and is married with children.

What is your position at PG Bison, and what do you enjoy most about it?

I’m currently a chipper operator, I grind the logs into chips. What I enjoy most about my job is that the manufacturing of raw materials starts in our department, and the process is heavily dependent on us.

What makes you proud to work for PG Bison?
Being part of the PG Bison group makes me even more proud because I’ve stayed longer than I thought.

How has your experience with the company been?

My experience has been great because I’ve always been treated well, and I’ve built good working relations with my managers and colleagues by maintaining a positive work ethic.

What is one thing you wish more people knew about you?

One thing I know about myself is that I’m transparent, what you see, is what you get!

What are your future career goals?

My working journey started 40 years ago, and I’m nearly at the end of my journey. My goals are to return to Kwa-Zulu Natal to spend time with my children and grandchildren.

What are your greatest achievements during your time at PG Bison?

PG Bison has always been supportive to me. I started working here with no experience, and I’ve received training to get to where I am now, and I’ve grown from one position to another because I’ve always shown commitment and responsibility towards my work.
