Long Service Awards: Knox Makhubela
PG Bison honours the journey of long-serving employees for being part of the change by committing to building the company’s future. We take this opportunity to profile employees with the remarkable milestone of over 40 years of service by telling their stories and highlighting their progress within the company.
Knox Makhubela has spent 40 years of tireless effort at PG Bison. He started working for the company at the age of 19 as a cleaner in 1982. Later in the year, he was hired as a general assistant at the log yard. In 2013, he was appointed as a supervisor. Knox is a family-oriented man, happily married with children.
What is your position at PG Bison, and what do you enjoy most about it?
I’m a supervisor at the log yard, and my main duties are to supervise employees who work in my department, oversee incoming and outgoing trucks, count the logs, and the Chips that we grind.
What makes you proud to work for PG Bison?
Looking back to when I started working here, the company has shown growth and I’ve gained enough knowledge and experience. The PG Bison family has shown me love and respect. I can say it’s my second home.
How has your experience with the company been?
My experience with the company has always been a great one, and I’ve learned that if you do your job as instructed, everything will run smoothly,
What is one thing you wish more people knew about you?
I’m very disciplined and, at the same time, I love laughing. I’m a free-spirited person, and in my spare time I read, watch soccer, and catch up on the news.
What are your future career goals?
I have worked for PG Bison long enough and I know that the next step is retirement. After retirement, I want to focus on spending quality time with my family.
What are your greatest achievements during your time at PG Bison?
I have attended various courses to get to where I am. The company has helped me build my skills and abilities. Today I’m computer literate, and that’s one of the greatest achievements for me.
