Women in the workplace: Rezaan Muller

In South Africa, August is National Women’s Month. In honour of the women who work at PG Bison, we’re taking this opportunity to profile some of them. In this post we chat to Rezaan Muller, who is Upgrading Manager at Boksburg.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am the Upgrading Manager at PG Bison Boksburg. I’m blessed with a daughter, a wonderful/energetic grandson (who keeps me, his “Ouma”, busy), and a loving family.
In April 2022, I celebrated 20 years at PG Bison. I originally started my career at National Chemical Product in Germiston as a production clerk, then worked at Sasol Solvent as a logistics coordinator. I joined PG Bison in 2002 at the components plant. Unfortunately, that later closed, but I was fortunate enough to start up the MFB 1 Pagnoni plant, our first ugrading plant at Boksburg, right after that.
What do you think is the key to success for women in manufacturing?
I’ve always believed that one of the main ingredients of life is RESPECT. Not only do I try to treat every individual, whatever rank they might hold, with respect, but I also always aim to act in a manner that earns respect too. If you can earn people’s respect, it doesn’t matter what gender you are – you will make a difference and that is why we are here, isn’t it – to make a difference?
What is your motivation in life?
My motivation is the knowledge and fact that I am blessed!
I am truly blessed in so many ways and it will be an insult to my Creator if I don’t value and treasure every day. And of course, I’m motivated by the challenge of being a woman in a “man’s world” – I love a good challenge.
What are your words of encouragement to all women in the workplace?
Life is about attitude and hard work! If you work hard and have the right attitude you will break the door down, you won’t have to wait for the door to be opened.
