PG Bison’s R240m MFB investment at Mkhondo advances ahead of schedule, strengthening supply to local and international markets
PG Bison is making excellent progress with the installation of its new high-volume, high-pressure Melamine Faced Board (MFB) line at its Mkhondo facility in Mpumalanga. The project is ahead of its planned start-up schedule, reflecting the strong execution and commitment of PG Bison’s in-house project team.
The new line will be the fourth MFB line at Mkhondo and PG Bison’s ninth overall. It will significantly increase the company’s value-added production capacity, strengthening supply to customers in local and international markets.
Incorporating some of the most advanced technology available globally, the line is set to become the most technologically advanced MFB line in Africa. It will enhance production flexibility, product consistency and supply capability, enabling PG Bison to respond more effectively to the needs of customers in local and international markets.
The investment also creates a platform for future product innovation. Its high-pressure press technology will allow PG Bison to explore more advanced surface finishes and respond to evolving international design and product innovation trends.
The project forms part of PG Bison’s strategy to expand its value-added capacity and strengthen its product offering through technology and innovation. It supports the Presidential Investment Conference pledge, also supporting the South African Furniture Industry Master Plan and Forestry Master Plan by creating further localisation opportunities across the furniture and forestry value chains, while improving the global competitiveness of locally manufactured products.
