Helping to fund New Hope Centre in Mkhondo
PG Bison has partnered with Judea Hope in Ugie for many years and is pleased to be doing so in Mkhondo (formerly Piet Retief).
The organisation manages an array of upliftment and development projects in South Africa. Recently, PG Bison has committed an amount of R1.5 million towards sustainable community development programmes to be led by Judea Hope in the Mkhondo region.
These will include the construction of the New Hope Centre for Early Childhood Development (ECD) at Emapheheni (ward 8). The preschool will enrol 80 children between the ages of zero and six years. The centre will have four classrooms, four restrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and an office.
PG Bison is also sponsoring local students to complete the Elevate ECD one-year training course. The course is aimed at training teachers to excel in their teaching careers. The training programme has registered the first session with 50 students and plans to expand the training course to the surrounding areas to reach 100 students.
Through Judea Hope, PG Bison supports a wide range of projects near its Ugie facility in the Eastern Cape and has recently signed a five-year contract to carry out similar community upliftment and transformation programmes in Mkhondo.
“We submitted a request to the municipality for the building of the New Hope Centre and are awaiting their approval. As soon as we receive it the building will commence,” says Judea Hope’s Team Manager, Wynand Visser.
Judea Hope started its partnership with PG Bison in 2016 with the Ugie transformation development project. This aims to uplift local communities through building ECD facilities, training ECD teachers, building vegetable tunnels, donating meals, and running a feeding scheme programme.
Wynand says, “As an organisation, we focus on women and children, as well as uplifting the community by providing feeding to disadvantaged homes and allowing children to have a better education in a comfortable environment.”
